It’s official ….

I’m a Peace Corps Volunteer!!! I don’t have much to say besides I’m glad training is over, I passed my language exam and am moving to my permanent site tomorrow! Here is the group shot… featured people US Ambassador: Carol (on the left front), Country Director Jon (to the back left), Training director Mike (kneeling in the front on the left). Not featured, Cambodian Vice Prime Minister who spoke at the ceremony. (Thanks to Obama mama the Cambodian Prime Minister was invited to DC so could not attend as previously planned). Caveat to the photo…I acquired the bright green rodeo shirt on my last night at my training house. My host mom came into my room at 10pm after I was already in bed, however nothing gets me up quicker than a bright green long sleeve. Needless to say the Cambodian charm of the shirt was a must wear for the ceremony.

About followingdreams

I have recently graduated from UCSD with a bachelor of arts in International Studies: History and Political Science. I embarked on a 27 month journey (a.k.a. 2 years and 3 months, a.k.a. 2 missed Chirstmas' and Thanksgivings, a.k.a. missing nephew's first and second birthday...) with Peace Corps to teach English in Cambodia, or at least that is what I have been told. And struggled through 6 months of life in rural Cambodia, Peace Corps, life across the globe. This blog captured a snapshot of that adventure in a way that hopefully enticed you to laugh at the trials! Please email me updates on your life and questions you may have as well, inquires about catering gigs. I would love to hear where life has taken you, because the road I have traveled has been quite the unexpected one. And would love to journey along side you in this crazy thing we called life.

Congratulations Leslie. I’ve loved reading your blog and seeing the pictures. You’ve overcome a million things that would have sent me right back home. Rats, spiders and humid heat only head the list. I’m sure you’ll learn as much as you teach. Have fun and keep writing and taking pictures. How is the kindle working out there?
