I have arrived at my Hotel in Phnom Penh!! The internet is not free, so this is a pre-written post. I slept the entire second leg of the flight, and a southwest size plane for 5 hrs sleeping isn’t exactly luxury. Stepping off the plane you could feel the humidity. Customs and the Visa process was a breeze After a 5 minute internal debate if I missed my ride pick-up at an earlier stage, I decided to the final stage after luggage pick-up and head through the double doors to the outside world. I was immediately engulfed with the sticky air, not realizing that it would be worse outside and the airport was actually air-conditioned. To my luck, three nice people where among the Khmer people feverishly waving a paper plate like sign of Peace Corps logo so I had a ride! The hotel is nice. I have my own room, double bed, air-conditioning [24* C is the lowest it goes], shower [with an apparatus that you have to push a button within the shower to heat the water], a toilet and toilet paper! Tomorrow the bus leaves at 8 am and the hotel has free breakfast. I just hope my alarm works!!

So far I have acquired two huge bruises from lifting my backpack onto my knee and then onto my back. I guess filling the thing to the brim might take a toll on my body. But in the end I feel the yoga mat, French press, and box of recipes will be worth the haul.

xoxo

About followingdreams

I have recently graduated from UCSD with a bachelor of arts in International Studies: History and Political Science. I embarked on a 27 month journey (a.k.a. 2 years and 3 months, a.k.a. 2 missed Chirstmas' and Thanksgivings, a.k.a. missing nephew's first and second birthday...) with Peace Corps to teach English in Cambodia, or at least that is what I have been told. And struggled through 6 months of life in rural Cambodia, Peace Corps, life across the globe. This blog captured a snapshot of that adventure in a way that hopefully enticed you to laugh at the trials! Please email me updates on your life and questions you may have as well, inquires about catering gigs. I would love to hear where life has taken you, because the road I have traveled has been quite the unexpected one. And would love to journey along side you in this crazy thing we called life.
